Overend champions Hope Nursery School and link with Mid-Ulster

Ulster Unionist MLA, Sandra Overend, recently met with representatives of the Shankill’s Hope Nursery School to raise awareness of their spectacular achievements in the Help Dora Help Award.

Sandra commented: “The Help Dora Help award was established to help and encourage children to learn and explore the world around them; something which I feel is vitally important, and it is a fantastic achievement in itself that Hope Nursery School, based in the lower Shankill has reached the final of this competition.

It was great to meet with the staff and parents from Hope Nursery at Parliament Buildings last week and get an insight into how the Nursery has impacted so positively on the Shankill community, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that one of their teachers is from Mid-Ulster’s Ballyronan.  Julianne Fleming, who travels to Hope Nursery School to teach every day explained in detail how they approached the challenge of this competition and how they were absolutely thrilled to be in the final of this competition.

Hope Nursery School is the only pre-school from Northern Ireland to have reached the final of this competition and they are now firmly in with the change of winning £20,000 to further improve their facilities.  The fact that they have made it to the final stages of this competition is a fantastic achievement and real attribute to their hard work and passion for children’s development.

I would urge everyone from Mid-Ulster to get behind Hope Nursery School and to vote for them on the Nickelodeon website at www.nickjr.co.uk/helpdorahelp
