Fracking related drilling requires monitoring - Elliott

Ulster Unionist MLA Tom Elliott says that any activity related to fracking needs to monitored by the relevant agencies.

Mr Elliott said:

“While I am informed that the process at Belcoo that is or will take place does not included fracking, it is certainly associated with it, therefore the relevant government departments and agencies should monitor the process to establish what exactly is taking place and gather information that may be relevant to any further license or planning applications.

“There are significant concerns about the potential of fracking, therefore any associated activity will give rise to concern.

“Given that the only information that is available about what Tamboran is embarking on comes from that company then the public will be genuinely suspicious.

“I call on the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Investment and Department of Environment to provide the public with information relative to this process and how the operation is going to be taken forward.”
