Hussey condemns gun attack on Police in Londonderry

Ulster Unionist Policing Board member Ross Hussey MLA has condemned a gun attack on Police in the Bogside area of Londonderry.

Mr Hussey said:

“I am extremely relieved that PSNI officers escaped death or serious injury in a disgraceful gun attack on a patrol vehicle in Westland Street in the Bogside area in the early hours of Tuesday morning when a Landrover was hit twice.

“Once again evil criminals have sought to target the Police force which is charged with protecting and serving the entire community.

“The vast majority of people in Londonderry want to concentrate on the issues which really matter, such as creating jobs, providing quality housing, delivering a first class-health service and building a future for all our people.

“Those who still wish to behave like fascists and use weapons to attack the Police and impose their will on society must be rejected by everyone. The fact is that the Police can only protect the public if they receive total co-operation and support so they can apprehend these gunmen and bring them before the courts.”
