Farry should apologise to Magee and the people of Londonderry – Swann

Robin Swann MLA, Chair of the DEL Committee, has called on Employment & Learning Minister, Stephen Farry, to apologise to Magee Campus and the people of Londonderry after he said the expansion of the campus was off the table for the indefinite future.

Mr Swann said:

“Stephen Farry should apologise for the unnecessary distress he has caused and admit that he doesn't have the authority to unilaterally cancel the expansion plan to Magee College.

"This is part of the One Plan - it's part of the Programme for Government and any decision about the expansion of Magee has to be taken by the Executive. Stephen Farry knows that, so he should apologise. He should apologise to Magee campus and the wider population of Londonderry.

"Remarkably, he hadn't even discussed this with the University of Ulster. If he hadn't discussed it with the University, who did he discuss it with?"
