The Ulster Unionist Party has given a cautious welcome to today's party political speech by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in which she calls for all-party talks.
Ulster Unionist Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA, said:
"The days of the all-singing, all-dancing talks should be over. The failed Haass experience proved that beyond all doubt.
"If Theresa Villiers wants success for any process, she should proceed with caution, with a limited agenda which has a realistic prospect of success, and we must begin with the issues that are impacting so negatively on all our people in the here and now, the unravelling budget and the increasingly failed Programme for Government.
"We also put the Secretary of State on notice that there is no official role for any foreign government in the internal affairs of Northern Ireland."
