Ulster Unionist DRD Minister Danny Kennedy MLA has stated that the people of Northern Ireland need a well thought out, planned and most importantly fair budget.
Mr Kennedy said:
“The real negotiation on this DUP/Sinn Fein draft budget will take place over the next few weeks.
“And while it is not appropriate to comment on the detail until the Finance Minister has formally made his statement to the Assembly the draft needs greater transparency.
“This was always going to be a difficult budget, not helped by the lack of strategic planning in the last one pushed through by Sinn Fein and the DUP.
“This isn`t just about how cuts fall across departments, it`s about fairness and how those cuts affect the people of Northern Ireland.
“Northern Ireland doesn’t need any old budget, it needs a well thought out, planned and most importantly fair budget, and that is what I will be working towards in the coming weeks.”
