Current Talks situation poses real threat to devolution of corporation tax - Nesbitt

Ulster Unionist Party Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA, has warned that the devolution of corporation tax is hanging by a thread.

Mr Nesbitt said:

"It is not just deeply disappointing that the Talks failed to produce agreement earlier today, it also poses a real threat to the devolution of Corporation Tax and with it, tens of thousands of new jobs. The devolution of corporation tax is hanging by a thread.

"We have argued consistently that the priority issue was a balanced budget and it was clear the Prime Minister flew into Belfast expecting the DUP and Sinn Fein to lead the local parties to a financial agreement. His frustration was obvious. It was time for parties to show their bottom lines and when it comes to Welfare, Sinn Fein are still not telling anyone how they want to protect the most vulnerable.

"The DUP/Sinn Fein carve-up at the heart of our government simply failed again, on finances as it does on politics."
