Ross Hussey selected to be the Ulster Unionist Party`s West Tyrone Westminster candidate

Ulster Unionist Party Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA, has congratulated Ross Hussey on being unanimously endorsed by the West Tyrone Ulster Unionist Association as their candidate for the forthcoming General Election. Mr Hussey`s name now goes forward for ratification to the Party Officers.

Mr Nesbitt said:

"Ross Hussey has a long track record of service to the constituency of West Tyrone, both as a former member of the RUC and as a politician, dedicated to serving his community. He is diligent at representing his constituents. After a very encouraging set of results in the 2014 local government elections in the West Tyrone area, it is important that Ulster Unionism continues its revival on 7thMay. I encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote and send a full time MP to Westminster.”

Mr Hussey said:

“The upcoming general election is a major challenge for the United Kingdom. Much will be made of the possibility of a hung parliament and the role Northern Ireland MPs may play. That`s why it`s vital that an Ulster Unionist is elected to represent all the people of West Tyrone. If elected I will make sure that West Tyrone has a strong, clear voice in Westminster.

“I have been proud to serve the people of Omagh as a District Councillor and the people of West Tyrone as an MLA. It would be an honour and a privilege to continue that commitment to all the people of West Tyrone as an MP. People from all communities who have sought my help know I have an 'open door to all'. I want to build on that and want to see West Tyrone represented by someone who will stand up, and for the first time in years, give West Tyrone a voice in our National Parliament.”
