Elliott praises PSNI following arrest of escaped prisoner

Ulster Unionist Justice spokesperson Tom Elliott MLA, has praised the actions of the PSNI in central Belfast last night, which resulted in the arrest of a dangerous prisoner who had absconded from custody in the Republic of Ireland after stabbing two prisoner officers in a Dublin hospital.

Mr Elliott said;

“I welcome the arrest of what was clearly a dangerous criminal, Derek Brockwell, who had convictions for armed robbery in both Britain and the Republic and who violently attacked two prison officers during his escape.

“Thankfully the PSNI located him in central Belfast and made an arrest, demonstrating once again their expertise in tackling dangerous criminals.

“Praise is due for their prompt and efficient response in which a dangerous criminal was apprehended and no member of the public was harmed.”
