Councillor William McCandless has been selected as the Ulster Unionist Candidate for East Londonderry for the forthcoming General Election.
Cllr McCandless said:
“It is a great honour to have been selected as the Ulster Unionist candidate for the East Londonderry constituency. I am a Coleraine native, working in the manufacturing industry for 40 years and have represented the town at council level since 2011, so I offer the voters a wealth of knowledge and experience in representing local people.
“The interests of East Londonderry are close to my heart and, if elected, I will work tirelessly for the whole community. At the forefront of my campaign will be the retention of the Causeway Hospital, maximising our tourism industry and promoting inward investment. I would be a proud ambassador for East Londonderry at Westminster and beyond.”
Ulster Unionist Party Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA said:
“From our first meeting, I was struck with William’s commitment to the people he serves as a Councillor and am glad he is offering himself to the people on the 7th of May because he has a lot to give.
“William McCandless is a man who is connected with the community and would be a determined advocate for East Londonderry at the heart of Westminster. I am delighted that someone with his record of public service is now taking this next step.
“If the people of East Londonderry want to vote for someone who will be a full-time MP, then they have that option in William. I know that he would be a dedicated Member of Parliament.”
