The Ulster Unionist Party’s sports spokesperson, Leslie Cree MLA, has extended his best wishes to Carl Frampton in advance of Saturday night’s World Title fight at the Odyssey Arena.
North Down MLA Mr Cree said,
“Last October I had the pleasure of meeting Carl Frampton at Stormont and saw at close quarters the magnificent red and gold world title belt which he won in the defeat of Kiko Martinez for the IBF World Super Bantamweight Title.
“I would like to extend my best wishes to Carl in advance of Saturday night’s fight against America’s Chris Avalos. In addition to the sell-out crowd at the Odyssey, Carl will know that he will have the whole of Northern Ireland cheering him on as they watch on television in a fight which will be screened UK wide by ITV.
“Carl’s has been a tremendous ambassador for Northern Ireland and his dedication, commitment and boxing ability are an inspiration to thousands of young sportspeople. I look forward to welcoming him back to Stormont in the very near future to celebrate his latest success.”
