Nesbitt welcomes Labour commitment to include Kincora in national inquiry into historical child abuse

Ulster Unionist Party Leader, Mike Nesbitt has welcomed a commitment from the Labour Party that, should they form the Government following the 7th May, they will include Kincora in the terms of reference for the national inquiry into historical child abuse.

Mr Nesbitt said:

“This is a welcome commitment from the Labour Party.  It had previously been deeply disappointing to hear that Kincora would not be included in the national inquiry into historical child abuse.

“Kincora continues to cast a dark shadow and the victims of abuse have been let down by the failure up to now to offer a full and transparent inquiry into what took place.

“Following the recent allegations made by Richard Kerr that he was trafficked and suffered abuse at locations in London, there is no other option but to include Kincora within the national, judge-led inquiry because of the likelihood it will become linked as evidence begins to emerge."
