Ulster Unionists condemn Londonderry bomb attack

Julia Kee, the Ulster Unionist Party’s Westminster candidate for the Foyle Constituency, has condemned last night’s bomb explosion in the Crawford Square area of Londonderry.

Ms Kee said:

“This latest bomb attack could have had disastrous consequences for police officers and local residents and I condemn it unreservedly.

“What exactly was achieved last night by the planting of a bomb at the offices of the Probation Service?

“Damage was caused to property. Local people had to flee their homes in fear. Children were dragged out of their beds and terrorised. The name and reputation of the City was sullied once again. If that was the intent of the bombers they succeeded, but if they had any other motive they failed.

“The people of Londonderry do not want or need this. They want to focus on education, employment, jobs, investment, housing and healthcare. They want a better life for themselves, their families and their communities.

“I urge anyone who can help catch the people responsible for last night’s attack or any other criminal activity, to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
