Sinn Fein engaged in blatant sectarianism during Westminster Election - Elliott

Tom Elliott, Ulster Unionist Westminster candidate for Fermanagh and South Tyrone, has accused Sinn Fein of engaging in one of the most blatant acts of sectarianism yet seen during this Westminster election campaign.

Tom Elliott said:

"Sinn Fein are engaged in the worst and most blatant kind of sectarian campaign yet exhibited by a political party during the General Election. In their headlong rush to try and win the Westminster seat of North Belfast, they have resorted to the lowest common denominator - sectarianism.

"They will have offended many people across the denominations with their sectarian leaflet designed to encourage people to vote for Gerry Kelly by highlighting the last census figures that there were more Catholics in North Belfast than Protestants, which I assume is Sinn Fein indicating that all Catholics should vote for them, which would defeat the Protestants.  However I'm not surprised given what I have witnessed in Fermanagh and South Tyrone over the past few weeks where Sinn Fein have engaged in one of the most negative election campaigns I have had the displeasure to witness.

"The Sinn Fein mask has slipped. From Gerry Adams calling unionists 'bastards' to automatically assuming that all Catholics will be Sinn Fein voters is an insult to the intelligence of the electorate. I have put myself forward as a candidate who welcomes the support of all sections of the community and if elected, I will serve them all."
