Cllr Sonia Copeland calls for rethink of decision to remove performing arts courses from Belfast Met

Ulster Unionist Councillor Sonia Copeland has called on Belfast Metropolitan College to rethink a decision to cease providing courses in performing arts for the forthcoming academic year.

Cllr Copeland said:

“While I understand that there have been reductions to Belfast Met’s budget, I would urge them to rethink this decision.  This move could limit the opportunities for those who may be considering a career in performing arts.

“I, along with Ulster Unionist colleagues, will be seeking a meeting with the Director of Belfast Metropolitan College to discuss this decision and the potential impact it could have.

“Just look at how many arts organisations we have in Belfast.  It is very important that training in this field is carried out in our capital city and is accessible to all.’
