Window of opportunity to agree progress on Welfare Bill is rapidly closing - McGimpsey

The Ulster Unionist Party met with the Secretary of State and the other Executive parties in Stormont House on Friday morning. Michael McGimpsey MLA has called on parties who have alternative proposals to the current Welfare Bill to present them today.

Mr McGimpsey said:

“We remain hopeful. Nothing is inevitable if there is a will to make progress. In discussions with other parties, there is a way forward. But that requires willingness and a desire to address the issues in a constructive manner.

“All Parties with any alternative proposals should come forward with them today. The window of opportunity to deal with this is rapidly closing.”
