Hussey welcomes progress on Coleraine to Londonderry railway line

Ross Hussey MLA, Ulster Unionist Regional Development spokesperson, has welcomed an announcement by Transport Minister Danny Kennedy MLA, that the contracts have been awarded that will allow Phase 2 of the Coleraine to Londonderry Railway line to begin.

The West Tyrone MLA said:

“This is great news for the North West and for rail users in Northern Ireland.  The Coleraine to Londonderry railway line has historically suffered from underinvestment and people in the North West have often felt that they have not been as connected to the rest of the country, and particularly Belfast, as they could be.   An increase in the frequency of services to Londonderry will bring greater economic and tourism opportunities for the North West.

“The Northern Ireland Executive is sadly too often characterised by a poor record of delivery but Danny Kennedy continues to demonstrate his commitment to delivering infrastructure projects for the benefit of all the people of Northern Ireland.
