McGuinness ducks the issue - Nesbitt

Ulster Unionist Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA, has accused Martin McGuinness MLA of ducking the issue of how many jobs he is putting at risk through his flip-flop over implementing the Stormont House Agreement.

Mr Nesbitt said:

“Martin McGuinness is one of our First Ministers and as such, has a responsibility to all the people of Northern Ireland. That includes the vulnerable and those seeking employment.

“He knows that Invest NI have a list of potential Foreign Direct Investors who are ready to set up in Northern Ireland the very moment we set the Rate and Date for lowering Corporation Tax, rather than waiting for the new rate to take effect.

“I asked Martin McGuinness at Question Time today to tell us how many jobs could be created overnight, because he knows it is a very significant number.

“He also knows he is putting those jobs at risk through his failure to implement the Stormont House Agreement, as he allows himself to be shaken by the tail by Sinn Fein's southern command.

“Martin McGuinness says he is concerned with protecting the vulnerable, but his actions demonstrate no commitment to those who seek help coming off benefits to enjoy the mental, physical and financial benefits of a holding down a job.”
