Attacking Danny Kennedy will not disguise DUP’s poor record in Government – Beggs

Roy Beggs MLA has said that party political attacks on the Regional Development Minister, Danny Kennedy, will not disguise the DUP’s poor record in Government.

Mr Beggs said:

“The motion brought before the Assembly today was nothing other than a party political attack on Danny Kennedy.  Trevor Clarke set the bar from the outset when he opened the debate with a personal attack on the Minister which lasted four minutes and twenty two seconds.

“Criticism of Danny Kennedy’s management of his Department's finances seems rich from a member of a Party that very soon will be asking the Assembly to support a “phantom budget”.   A budget that asks us to abandon reality for fantasy and yet the DUP had the audacity to support this motion today criticising a Minister’s ability to effectively manage and maintain his budgets!

“The DUP and Sinn Fein can attempt to distract from the current financial crisis by bringing puerile debates in the Assembly that single out Ministers from smaller parties but it will not disguise their poor record in government."
