Danny Kennedy, Ulster Unionist MLA for Newry & Armagh, has condemned an overnight arson attack on Ballytyrone Orange Hall in County Armagh which has gutted the building.
Mr Kennedy said:
“This is a hate crime which should be condemned by all right thinking people. It was designed to whip up tensions in the run up to the Twelfth. I would appeal for people to remain calm and urge the PSNI to increase protection for Orange Halls.
“The wanton destruction caused to this hall will cause huge hurt and disappointment to the members of the local lodge, but ultimately they will rebuild and restore the hall so that it is better than ever.”
