Councillor Stephen Nicholl, Ulster Unionist Group Leader on Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, has welcomed the decision to grant the Freedom of the Borough to 'B' Squadron, North Irish Horse.
Councillor Nicholl said:
"This honour is richly deserved by a unit which carries forward the tradition of service by our citizens through two World Wars and many conflicts since. It is a fitting tribute, and as the first granting of the Freedom of the Borough, signals the high esteem in which the unit is held.
“The Ulster Unionist Party welcomes this honour being bestowed and is committed to ensuring that proper civic recognition of the armed forces and ex-servicemen is maintained across the Borough."
