Paramilitary display tarnishes the name of the City of Londonderry - Hussey

Ulster Unionist Policing Board spokesperson, Ross Hussey MLA, has called for a robust police investigation into INLA terrorist displays in Londonderry during the past week.

My Hussey said:

"The paramilitary display on Saturday, in addition to the firing of shots by terrorists over a coffin earlier in the week, tarnishes the name of the city of Londonderry. People will feel intimidated and shocked that this is allowed to happen in 2015. I have written to the Chief Constable seeking a meeting with senior commanders and also assurances that a robust and thorough investigation is taking place.

“If any of the organisers or participants are shown to be former prisoners out on licence, then I will expect the Secretary of State to move swiftly to revoke those licences.

"People will expect to see convictions after this brazen display of paramilitary thuggery. The message needs to go out loud and clear that society will not stand for this. All right thinking people will condemn this and the actions of those terrorists who attempted to murder police officers in Lurgan over the weekend.

"The Justice Minister needs to assure us that the police will be given the resources they need to deal with these criminals. He needs to show the law abiding majority that these people are not above the law."
