Gerry Adams lacks credibility - Nesbitt

The Ulster Unionist Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA, has accused Gerry Adams of lacking credibility and challenged republicans to convince people that they are serious about moving forward through exclusively peaceful means.

Mike Nesbitt said:

“If Gerry Adams set out to create the conditions that would lead to a United Ireland by the centenary of the murderous Easter Rising of 1916, we suspect history will name the same Gerry Adams as one of the major reasons why it did not happen. He simply lacks credibility, not just in the unionist community, but increasingly with any thinking member of the human race, including former supporters.

“By contrast, the Ulster Unionist Party has always sought to create space to build mutual trust between our two traditions. That requires a re-think from republicans, who need to convince us they are serious about moving forward through exclusively peaceful means.”
