Ulster Unionists support World AIDS Day

Ulster Unionist Party Health spokesperson John McCallister has called on the public to use World AIDS Day to find out the facts about the HIV virus and to learn more about how to protect themselves and others.

The South Down MLA said;

“Although in Northern Ireland we have a relatively low amount of cases, it is always important to raise awareness about the HIV virus and how to protect yourself and others from it.  Thankfully during to medical advances and improved treatment people who are HIV-positive are living longer and have a better quality of life.’

“Sadly, many people living with HIV still face stigma and discrimination everyday and many in our society are still ignorant to the facts about HIV.  World AIDS Day plays a vital role in raising awareness of the virus and that is why I and my Party support it.’
