Michael McGimpsey condemns petrol bomb attack and threat

Michael McGimpsey, Ulster Unionist MLA for South Belfast has condemned the petrol bomb attack on a house in Fortuna Street, off the Donegall Road, and a subsequent threat to the owner of the property.

Mr McGimpsey said;

 "I utterly condemn this despicable act of violence on a family home in a densely populated residential area of South Belfast.  I am glad no one was injured in the attack but the outcome could have been very different had it not been for the rapid actions of the resident and his neighbours in bringing the fire under control.

"There is no place or justification for such violence in our society and I would appeal for anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the police immediately to help bring the perpetrator to justice.

 “The fact that there has been a subsequent threat made against the victim of the petrol bombing, and that there are claims of paramilitary involvement only compounds the situation.  This threat should be lifted immediately.”
