Nicholson welcomes delegation of MEPs to Belfast

Ulster Unionist MEP Jim Nicholson will this week host a delegation of 16 MEPs on a visit to Belfast. As a Member of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Group in Brussels, Mr Nicholson will host a three day visit by the group’s Executive body, the Bureau.

Mr Nicholson said:

“I am delighted to welcome colleagues from the ECR group to Northern Ireland this week.  The delegation of MEPs will meet with local businesses, tour regeneration projects and visit the Northern Ireland Science Park.  This will be a great opportunity to showcase what Northern Ireland’s dynamic businesses have to offer and for stakeholders from all aspects of business and community life to engage directly with MEPs from key Committees in the European Parliament.

“Given David Cameron’s renegotiation of the UK’s membership of the EU, and the importance of this to Northern Ireland, there will be a debate between two influential MEPs and a local notable businessman, at a breakfast that will be attended by 100 business people from across Northern Ireland.

“The delegation includes MEPs from across the EU, including Finland, Latvia, Denmark and Poland. I am particularly pleased that a number of Polish colleagues are visiting us, as a key focus of the itinerary is commemorating the sacrifice and service of Polish airmen who were based in Northern Ireland during WWII.”
