Danny Kinahan, Ulster Unionist MP for South Antrim, has stated that he is appalled that the Labour Party Leader, Jeremy Corbyn MP, signed a letter opposing the extradition of IRA terrorist, Dessie Ellis, to the United Kingdom.

Danny Kinahan, Ulster Unionist MP for South Antrim, said:

"I lost a good friend, Lt Anthony Daly, in the Hyde Park bombing. I was best man at Anthony's wedding in June 1982 and just weeks later I was commanding his burial party. Anthony was one of four soldiers from my regiment murdered by the IRA in Hyde Park. To learn now that Jeremy Corbyn used his office as a Member of Parliament to try and obstruct the search for justice by signing a letter opposing the extradition of IRA terrorist, Dessie Ellis, to the United Kingdom, truly appalls me. And I will tell Mr Corbyn that if I see him in the House of Commons.

"I would appeal to him to use the office he now has, to work for the benefit of the families of the victims of the IRA atrocity in Hyde Park and other murders. The families are still seeking justice 33 years after that terrible day in July 1982. They continue to suffer pain and anguish. When they thought that at last they would see justice for their loved ones, their hopes were dashed when the OTR letters scandal broke. They deserve better.  

"The more I hear of Jeremy Corbyn's past words and deeds, the more obvious it becomes that he needs to either retract them or just come out and confirm what others are thinking - that he remains a supporter of the IRA. At least the people of the United Kingdom will know what he stands for. 

"I re-iterate my Party Leader's request for a meeting with the Leader of the Labour Party so that we can engage on a range of issues. His engagement so far has been minimal, to say the least."
