Hussey urges entire community to help Police remove all forms of criminality and paramilitarism

The Ulster Unionist Party’s Policing Spokesperson, Ross Hussey MLA, has urged the entire community to assist the Police in combatting all forms of criminal and paramilitary activity.

Speaking following the discovery of an under-car bomb off Belfast’s Cliftonville Road on Thursday, Mr Hussey said:

“Once again a community is coming to terms with the fact that criminals have caused an explosive device to be left in their area where it could have killed or injured anyone who happened to be in the vicinity.

“These people are not normal. They are trying to kill someone and that is why they do not care if they happen to kill or injure someone who is not their intended target. In their warped and sick minds, such an eventuality would no doubt be explained away as ‘one of those things that happen in war.’

“They are so twisted that they are incapable of realising that they are criminals engaged in a futile and pointless campaign which is on a road to nowhere.

“The North West of the Province has unfortunately suffered from a spate of this type of activity, yesterday it was the turn of north Belfast’s Linden Gardens.

“All of us in Northern Ireland must give total and unequivocal support to the Police and the forces of law and order, as they work to remove all forms of criminality and paramilitarism from our streets and communities.”
