Hussey condemns those responsible for another bomb scare in Omagh

Ross Hussey, Ulster Unionist MLA for West Tyrone, has condemned those responsible for another bomb scare in Omagh.

Mr Hussey said:

“I unreservedly condemn the continued acts of cowardice that bring Omagh to a halt. Omagh has felt the full force of terrorism in the past and there are many scars seen and unseen because of that attack. What are today's 'freedom fighters' achieving? They are attacking local businesses which are clearly losing potential customers on the busiest shopping day of the week. This is also the lead up to Christmas and if initial purchase or perhaps 'put away' opportunities are missed today, shoppers will go elsewhere.

“Omagh has suffered enough because of cowardly terrorists. We do not need this type of intimidation. If jobs are lost or businesses close as a result of this to whom do they turn for support?

“The fascists responsible will be nowhere to be seen as they continue to lurk in the shadows. The courts must make it crystal clear that those who call in bomb scares are as guilty as those who plant bombs in bringing terror into the heart of the community - actions speak louder than words.”
