Danny Kinahan MP condemns deplorable comments from Francie Molloy

Danny Kinahan, Ulster Unionist MP for South Antrim, has condemned Sinn Fein MP Francie Molloy for his latest social media outburst.

Mr Kinahan said:

“Francie Molloy`s latest comment is absolutely deplorable, but not surprising. It reveals a deeper mindset within the psyche of some Sinn Fein members which seems to be an irrational hatred of all things British apart from pounds sterling, Westminster expenses and hospitality at Windsor Castle.

“Francie Molloy`s tweet also demonstrates either naivety or wilful ignorance on Sinn Fein`s part. Having recently visited Kurdistan, and witnessed the efforts on the ground to fight Daesh and hearing the extensive proposals of the UK Government, what we voted for in Parliament was airstrikes which will form part of a wider campaign which will include humanitarian support and planning for post-conflict stabilisation in Syria.

“I have a question for Martin McGuinness – what is your strategy for dealing with Daesh? You`re the leader of Sinn Fein in Northern Ireland, it`s time we heard from you. On 16 November you said that Daesh was beyond talking to, but your party says that you`re against taking military action against them. And what’s your attitude to the UN? The UN have passed a motion calling for all necessary action to be taken action against Daesh. Is the UN wrong too? Maybe you don`t support the UN?

“Daesh is a death cult that throws gay men off tall buildings to their deaths, murders holiday makers on the beaches of Tunisia, uses sexual violence against young girls and beheads our citizens. But Sinn Fein seem to be ambivalent about them.

“Sinn Fein`s MEPs voted against taking action against Daesh in March, one of their MLAs said that he didn`t think Daesh should be called terrorists and now Francie Molloy MP accuses the UK of being murderers because we vote to take action against an organisation committing mass murder, raping women and young girls, with the vast majority of their victims being Muslim.

What is Martin McGuinness going to do about this latest outburst from a Sinn Fein member? Will he be made to retract his comments in the same way that Phil Flanagan was?

“Sinn Fein have been consistently inconsistent on this. In fact they have been totally hypocritical. And they have been caught out in the same way that they were after 9/11, in condemning one man`s terrorism, but not their own.”
