Ulster Unionists condemn death threats against Young Conway Volunteers Flute Band

Gareth Martin, Ulster Unionist Assembly candidate for West Belfast, has condemned those who issued death threats against the members of Young Conway Volunteers Flute Band.

Mr Martin said:

“I am appalled by the death threats issued against the members of Young Conway Volunteers Flute Band, some of whom are young children. Those responsible should be condemned and prosecuted. There can be absolutely no justification for such threats and I hope that the PSNI are able to trace the culprits and bring them before the courts. But the PSNI will need help to do this so if anyone has information that could assist the investigation, I would appeal that they pass it on as soon as possible.

“As a former Secretary and Band Captain of Upper Falls Protestant Boys, I know all too well how difficult it is to keep a band on the road at the best of times without being subjected to such callous and sinister threats as these. I wish the members a happy and peaceful Christmas and all the best for the New Year and forthcoming marching season.”
