Kinahan urges Prime Minister to maintain and strengthen the Union

Ulster Unionist MP for South Antrim, Danny Kinahan, has urged the Prime Minister to do all that he can to maintain and strengthen the Union of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Danny Kinahan said:

“The preservation and development of the United Kingdom is one of the key focuses of my Westminster mandate. I helped establish the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Union to cultivate a forum-based approach to tackling all of the major issues that we face and I make no apology for using every opportunity to explore how we can approach all Parliamentary endeavours from a UK-wide basis.

“During Prime Minister’s questions I re-stated my passionate belief in the Union and warned of the threats we face, not least the growth of Scottish nationalism.

“I asked the Prime Minister to outline his vision for the Union and how we can best hold its four great constituent nations together. The Prime Minister outlined his passion for our partnership of nations and his belief that its strength lies in its ability to facilitate multiple identities from an Ulsterman who is a Brit to a Hindu Scot.

“I very much welcome the Prime Minister’s commitment and I will continue to conduct an active campaign to strengthen the Union which is so crucial to the well-being of the people of Northern Ireland and their fellow-citizens in Great Britain.”
