Kingsmills families are entitled to justice no matter how long it takes - Danny Kennedy MLA

Danny Kennedy, Ulster Unionist MLA for Newry & Armagh, has stated that the Kingsmills massacre has not been forgotten and the families are entitled to justice no matter how long it takes. Danny Kennedy attended today`s Memorial Service, which was held to mark forty years since ten Protestant workmen were massacred by the Provisional IRA, along with Party Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA and Councillors David Taylor, Sam Nicholson and Harold McKee.

Danny Kennedy said:

"Today's memorial service was very well attended and demonstrates that despite the passing of forty years, the Kingsmills massacre has not been forgotten. The emotion of today's event runs very deep. I am glad that so many people came to show solidarity with the families of the murdered men and the sole survivor, Alan Black. People still believe that the Kingsmills families are entitled to justice, no matter how long it takes.

"The pain and hurt is etched deep into the memory because of the blatantly sectarian nature of the murders committed on that day. The Provisional IRA and their apologists have never accepted responsibility for the crime and it remains a stain on Irish republicanism.

"When you hear the powerful words of Alan Black and his granddaughter Evie, they show the special significance of today's memorial service and why is important to continue to remember Kingsmills and the campaign for justice."
