Elliott questions the Prime Minister over historical investigations

Tom Elliott MP has questioned the Prime Minister in the Commons over what he will do to ensure that there is equality of investigations into terrorist atrocities committed during the Troubles.

Tom Elliott MP said:

“We have seen the recent announcement of an investigation into the alleged informer “Stakeknife”.  It has been estimated the investigation could cost as much as £25million.

“During PMQs I raised this announcement with the Prime Minister and asked whether he would ensure that atrocities such as Enniskillen and Teebane received equal investigations.  He informed me that he would look at what I had said carefully and that we have to make sure we look at all these things in a fair and reasonable way.

“I agree that we need to see equality for those victims of terrorist atrocities who have been waiting for decades for truth and justice.  The Prime Minister also said that he will write to me on this issue, so I will continue to engage with him.”
