Elliott welcomes Bradley comments and calls for equality of treatment for victims and survivors

Ulster Unionist MP Tom Elliott has welcomed comments by Denis Bradley, the former Co-Chair of the Consultative Group on the Past.

Mr Elliott said:

“In his comments on BBC Radio Ulster today, Denis Bradley referred to the difference in treatment that some victims have received and how this had caused frustration that people weren’t getting fairness.

“Denis Bradley’s comments reinforce what the Ulster Unionist Party has been saying all along. It was indeed unfair that some people got inquiries while others did not. It was also unfair that some got coroner court inquests whilst others did not.

“That is a reason why we called for all processes in dealing with the past, including historic coroner court inquests to be put into one system, whether that was HIU or other process.

“The Ulster Unionist Party believes that we have to give people the same opportunities to achieve justice, and that everyone has to be in the same system.”
