McCallister questions motives behind DUP removing claim from website

UUP Health Spokesperson, John McCallister has questioned the motives behind the DUP removing a claim from their website homepage that they had introduced free prescriptions to Northern Ireland.

John said:

“During the 2011 election campaign the DUP routinely boasted of their “success” in bringing in free prescriptions for all citizens in Northern Ireland.  Indeed the claim featured in their “40 Achievements” booklet and took pride of place on their website homepage.”

“But now their Health Minister has announced he is considering re-introducing the charges the claims has miraculously disappeared from their homepage.”

“This move raises two questions: firstly, what other false claims will the DUP drop so wilfully during this Assembly’s lifetime?  Secondly, does the removal of this claim from their website give a clear signal that the DUP have in fact already made their decision over the reintroduction of prescription charges?”
