Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson has praised the PSNI operation which resulted in the arrest of eight individuals across Portadown, Lurgan and Armagh this morning.
The Upper Bann MLA said:
“This operation was the culmination of months of painstaking and coordinated work by various branches within the PSNI to combat the supply of heroin and other drugs across the district. It resulted in the search of six houses this morning and the subsequent arrest of eight individuals suspected of being ‘key players’ in the heroin supply chain.
“I understand that four houses in Portadown, one in Lurgan and one in Armagh were searched and as a result, seven men and one woman were taken to the custody suite at Musgrave Police Station.
“I have spoken with the PSNI Command Centre this morning and wish to commend Superintendent David Moore and his team on taking significant action to remove from our streets those who deal in death.
“Information on drugs is crucial to the fight against its supply and I would encourage anyone who may have any information, no matter how unimportant they may feel it is, to contact the PSNI to help continue to bring this fight to the doorsteps of those ultimately responsible.”
