Ulster Unionist MLA for Mid-Ulster, Sandra Overend, has condemned the disgraceful attack on the Teebane Memorial on the Drum Road, Cookstown in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Mrs Overend said:
“It is utterly shameful that someone has taken it upon themselves to take the flowers and wreaths – laid in memory of the eight workmen who were murdered in 1992 by the IRA – and scatter them across the road in the early hours of Sunday morning. This disgraceful act of vandalism should shame those who carried it out.
“My thoughts are obviously with the families of those who were murdered by the IRA at Teebane, as they are left to cope with this unnecessary distress. If anyone has any information about who was responsible for this vandalism, I would urge them to contact the PSNI on 101.”
