Empey questions Coalition on the future on parading in Northern Ireland

Ulster Unionist Peer Lord Empey has asked the Coalition Government through a Parliamentary Question if they have had discussions with the Northern Ireland Executive on the future of parading in Northern Ireland.

 Lord Empey said:

“As we approach 2012 it is sad to learn that there is no progress being made on the parading issue.  Not only is there no progress, there is no evidence of any discussions.”

“Once again we will leave it too late and only start paying attention as the parading season approaches. Past events show us that by then it is too late.”

“I do hope that people will refocus on this matter, especially as during the next few years we are facing a series of centenary celebrations right across Northern Ireland.”
