Ulster Unionist Justice spokesperson, Danny Kennedy MLA, has stated that there needs to be a significant security and community response following confirmation that Adrian Ismay`s death was murder.
Danny Kennedy said:
“The confirmation that Adrian Ismay`s death is being treated as murder confirms our worst fears. A family has been needlessly robbed of a kind, generous, loving husband and father. There needs to be a significant security and community response. The PSNI need to be given all the necessary resources they require but the community also needs to play its part to help identify the murderers and respond to the latest police appeals. All security personnel need to be on high alert and offered protective advice and support.
“The tributes to Adrian Ismay in today`s newspapers by friends and colleagues shows the esteem in which he was held. Northern Ireland has lost a fine man and it is our duty as a community to do all that we can to help the police put the terrorists responsible for this heinous crime behind bars.”
