Ulster Unionists celebrate NI Year of Food and Drink

The Ulster Unionist Westminster team was delighted to see food and drink companies from all over Northern Ireland come to the Houses of Parliament today.

Fermanagh and South Tyrone MP Tom Elliott said:

“Today we saw some of the best produce Northern Ireland has to offer being sampled by Parliamentarians from all four corners of the United Kingdom. Our local companies done us proud as they showcased the diversity of their exceptionally high quality food and drink products. All who attended agreed that our little country punches well above its weight when it comes to our local fare.

“Our Parliamentary team got a chance to catch up with old friends and meet new ones in the NI food and drink sector. We will always use every opportunity to champion Northern Irish food and drink companies. It is crucially important that we as legislators do all we can to support these companies by reducing red tape, encouraging growth and developing the best trading opportunities possible. The businesses we met today are shining examples to all those considering establishing their own small or medium enterprise. It is the hard work and determination of these entrepreneurs that is essential to our local economy.

“I encourage everyone to get out and support their local food and drink companies by joining us in celebrating the Northern Ireland Year of Food and Drink.”
