Alderman Arnold Hatch, a member of the UK delegation on the Committee of the Regions and President of the Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NLGA), has added condolences to the victims of those affected by this morning’s terrorist attacks in Brussels.
Alderman Hatch said:
"As a member of the UK delegation on the Committee of the Regions, I unreservedly condemn these attacks. The indiscriminate nature of this type of terrorism will resonate with many people in Northern Ireland who remember only too well the tactics deployed by the IRA throughout the Troubles."
“On a personal level I am relieved to learn that our staff on the Committee of the Regions and the Northern Ireland Executive office in Brussels were not caught up in these murderous and cowardly attacks.
“My thoughts and prayers are with all those who were affected and the people of Belgium."
