Libel Reform to be an issue in the negotiations on a Programme for Government – Nesbitt

Further to the Ulster Unionist Party`s manifesto commitments on libel reform, the Party Leader has pledged to continue to his reform campaign in the next Assembly mandate.

Mike Nesbitt said:

“I will bring the issue of libel reform to the negotiations on the next Programme for Government and if there is no commitment to address it there, I will bring forward another Private Members Bill in the next Assembly mandate to sort it out.”

Note to Editors:

Mike Nesbitt`s Private Members Bill on Defamation was blocked in the last Assembly mandate by Simon Hamilton referring the matter to the Northern Ireland Law Commission for consultation.
