Ulster Unionist Leader Mike Nesbitt has stated that people have spent years waiting for Gerry Adams to make the type of statement that he now calls on others to make.
Mike Nesbitt said:
"Like many journalists I spent years trying to get Gerry Adams to make the sort of unequivocal statement he is now calling on others to make. We had to settle for the unbelievable denial of his own past.
"The Ulster Unionist Party has always condemned terrorism, viewing it as absolutely unacceptable.
"In previously defending the IRA's actions, Sinn Féin have drawn the road map today's terrorists use to justify their brutal and bloody activities.”
