Ulster Unionist Cookstown Councillor Trevor Wilson has said that Tesco need to explain why fold away Northern Ireland chairs were withdrawn from sale at their Cookstown store soon after they were put on display this week.
Cllr Wilson said:
“Tesco are running a promotion of foldaway chairs with Northern Ireland flags on them, in connection with the European Football Championship. Amazingly, not long after they were put on display in the Cookstown store, they were removed from sale.
“Tesco really need to explain what they are playing at, especially when I understand these chairs are on sale in their other stores all over Northern Ireland.
“This is a Euro 16 promotion and it is absurd and a disgrace that Tesco has, without explanation, withdrawn the sale of Northern Ireland chairs from their Cookstown store. It is even more galling when you consider that Cookstown has two local members of the Northern Ireland football squad preparing to represent their country at the European Championship in France.”
