Danny Kennedy, Ulster Unionist MLA for Newry and Armagh and a member of the Orange Order, has expressed his disappointment that it has not yet been possible to reach agreement to end the Ardoyne parade dispute.
Mr Kennedy said:
“This is an opportunity lost for the moment. We had proposed this as a game changer two years ago, so we are very disappointed that it has not yet been possible to reach final agreement which had seemed within touching distance.
“I commend all those involved such as the Rev Harold Good, Jim Roddy, and all stakeholders. I hope that this is not the end. I look forward to a peaceful marching season and encourage everyone to show a spirit of generosity and respect.”
