Ulster Unionists welcome Air Canada order for Bombardier C Series

Ulster Unionist Party economy spokesperson Steve Aiken MLA and East Belfast MLA Andy Allen have welcomed confirmation of an Air Canada order to purchase 45 CS300 airplanes from Bombardier with an option for an additional 30.

Steve Aiken MLA said:

“This is excellent news coming out of Canada which will be well received in Northern Ireland.   The silver lining in the dark cloud when Bombardier announced over 1,000 redundancies in February, was the news that the company has signed a letter of intent with Air Canada for up to 75 CS300 aircraft.  The confirmation of the order is timely and an important boost for our manufacturing sector in these uncertain times.”

East Belfast UUP MLA Andy Allen said:

“This Air Canada order comes on the heels of the announcement in April that Delta airlines had bought 75 of the CS100 aircraft with an option for 50 more.  With the part manufacture, design and development of the C Series being carried out locally, we in East Belfast are delighted by this news. The fact that Bombardier are winning and signing contracts again is a great relief for everyone associated with the company and its supply chain.”
