Kinahan praises emergency services actions in tackling Ballyclare fire

Ulster Unionist MLA Danny Kinahan has praised the response of the emergency services following the fire which broke out at commercial premises in the Park Street area of Ballyclare in the early hours of this (Thursday) morning. South Antrim representative Mr Kinahan said:

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the emergency services for their prompt response to this incident. Forty firefighters were involved in tackling a blaze at Clare Farm Supplies in Park Street, Ballyclare and managed to prevent the fire spreading to adjoining properties. Bearing in mind how bad the weather was last night, in particular the presence of very high winds, I would like to place on record my appreciation of the work of the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, and indeed our other emergency services, who so often take risks to protect the rest of us.

I have visited the scene and spoken to the owner of the business. He is in remarkably good heart and relieved that there was no loss of life. He is also determined to rebuild his business and re-open as soon as possible and I know that this news will be welcomed by the many farm businesses in Ballyclare and much further afield who rely on it. I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the vicinity in the early hours of Thursday morning to come forward immediately and assist the Police as they investigate the cause of this fire.”
