Ulster Unionist Party Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA, has said Arlene Foster and Martin McGuinness must publish the Executive’s action plan for ending paramilitarism immediately.
The Fresh Start set a deadline for publishing the actions by the end of June 2016.
Mike Nesbitt MLA said:
“This Executive is quickly getting the reputation of not having a plan. They haven’t delivered the Programme for Government in the timescale set out in Fresh Start, they have no plan on how we will deal with Brexit and now they have not published the anticipated action plan to deal with the toxic legacy of paramilitarism by the end of June deadline.
“Public confidence will be a key measure of the success of any initiative, but sadly that will have been dealt a blow by the Executive’s failure to meet their deadline.
“Our First Ministers need to get their act together. The public need to know that the Executive is serious about ending the influence of paramilitary groups that continues to supress communities. The Ulster Unionist Party made sure that tackling paramilitarism remained at the top of the talks agenda. The action plan must be published immediately so the public can have confidence that it is at the top of the DUP & Sinn Fein’s agenda.”
