Butler condemns attack on Albanian woman in Lisburn

Robbie Butler, Ulster Unionist MLA for Lagan Valley, has strongly condemned the man who attacked an Albanian woman in Lisburn on Thursday 20th October.

An Albanian mother of four and business owner in Lisburn was subjected to a violent and possibly race-related attack. Police were alerted to the alleged incident. A man, who had been verbally abusing the businesswoman, intensified his abuse by grabbing her and punching her in the face, leaving her injured and badly shaken.

Robbie Butler MLA said:

“This type of behaviour is reprehensible. I visited the lady on Friday to offer my support and assistance and to reassure her that the people of Lisburn and Lagan Valley do not condone behaviour of this type in any arena. When I spoke with her she was very traumatised by what had happened.

“I would also like to offer my heartfelt gratitude to the two female members of the public who attempted to intervene in the escalating situation. The remarkable courage of these ladies who intervened helped prevent the situation escalating further. I commend their bravery and I believe they are true examples of the Lisburn community.”
